Late 2021 I felt a calling to create community where I was. I had recently turned 18 and was figuring out what came next. I started paying attention to what I loved, what had formed me, and what I was passionate about.
There was a big move in my early childhood from the Midwest to the East Coast when my dad was called to pastor Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Salisbury, Maryland. We didn’t have much of a local family support system, so my parents — coffee people through and through — started family game days every Saturday at our local Starbucks on the college campus.
It became our favorite thing. Friends from church joined in. The baristas became like adopted family — playing cards on breaks, stopping by on days off for Uno or Phase 10. We did tastings and events. We brought them Thanksgiving dinner every year. All over cups of coffee and real presence.

Coffee is the catalyst for community, the start of new beginnings, and the foundation for relationships. Today that love — and the call to strengthen the community around me — lives in Hause Roasters.
